Renunciation For Roots Of Slavery
PRAYER OF RENUNCIATION FOR THE ROOTS OF SLAVERY
(Church’s responsibility)
Father God in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we come before Your Throne today to seek forgiveness as the Church for allowing the roots of slavery to rule and dominate the Church and the people of the city of Cape Town.
On the basis of Your Word, we now come before You to confess that as Your Church we have been blinded by self-righteousness, that we have allowed arrogance and pride in our lives which made us to live mediocre lives. Forgive us for our ignorance and indifference that kept us from looking beyond the symptoms to the roots of slavery.
We now ask Your forgiveness for uprooting people from other countries and carrying them off to be slaves in the city of Cape Town. We ask Your forgiveness for the violence and bloodshed as a form of punishment for all those who resisted being taken as slaves. Forgive us for murder and for allowing a spirit of murder that has become a monument in our city.
We ask Your forgiveness for separating families as they arrived in the Cape, consequently inviting divorce and separations into families causing them to be dysfunctional. Forgive us Lord for walking in disunity since, both in our homes and in the church.
Forgive us as slave owners for using the slave women as sex objects thus inviting evil and perverse spirits of lust to rule to this very day in the form of rape, incest, abortion, fornication, illegitimacy, adultery and prostitution.
Forgive us as slaves for not turning to YOU, Almighty God, for our deliverance but instead resorting to addictive habits and behaviours. For bowing to this day to inferiority, unforgiveness, resentment and hatred. Forgive us for walking in subservience rather than submission.
Forgive us, as Your church, for not embracing the slaves but turning a deaf ear to their plights. Forgive us for upholding slavery by not wanting to accept them into the church, thus allowing Islam to embrace them and today we are reaping what we have sown. Set us free and deliver us from our sin, Almighty God. Set us free from the legal right and the grip of Islam.
We ask You to forgive us for ignoring the cries of distress of those enslaved and for allowing the sounds of slave bells to ring continually through the ages. We ask you to stop the sounds of slavery and to set us free.
We as Your Church are ashamed of our deeds of omission and commission during a time when once again the platform of slavery was used for laws of discrimination in our country. Forgive us for our silence. Forgive us for lashing out in the flesh when we should have resisted the spirit of slavery. Forgive us for aligning ourselves with this spirit and brought on ourselves further enslavement. As both slaves and slave owners are guilty because we have both gone our own way, forgive us Lord.
Forgive us for the bloodshed of many of our youth who lost their lives in their battle for freedom, because we were not at a place with you to realize that this is a spiritual battle. Forgive us for allowing our children to take the lead in the battle against slavery when we as the Church should have taken the lead. We thank You for Your forgiveness because of the price that Jesus paid on Calvary. AMEN.
RENOUNCING ROOTS OF SLAVERY
(Personal)
Dear Father God, I thank You that I can come before Your Throne of grace and mercy because of the completed work of Jesus, Your Son, at Calvary and that He has redeemed me with His Blood, not with silver or gold.
I bring before You my ancestral heritage and I ask You, Lord, to cut me free from every sin, curse and iniquity that I inherited.
I accept full responsibility for those sins and iniquities and I want to confess them before Your throne of mercy to receive forgiveness in the Name of Jesus.
I know that there is no forgiveness without confession and therefore I want to confess the following sins in detail in the Name of Jesus:
I confess all the sinful reactions towards those that sold us, those that bought us, those that mistreated and abused us. I confess all anger, hatred, bitterness, rejection, self-rejection, retaliation, murder, violence, curses spoken and vows sworn to take revenge, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
I choose to let these sinful emotions and reactions go in Jesus’ Name. I choose to forgive those that were involved in making me a slave, in Jesus’ Name.
As I receive mercy from You, Lord, so I can extend mercy to those that placed chains on my hands and feet and degraded me – in the Name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I forgive them!
I nail everything in detail that was done to me and my forefathers to the Cross of Jesus Christ and cover it all with the Blood of Jesus.
I choose to walk away from the past in the Almighty Name of Jesus. I renounce all demonic inheritance in the Name of Jesus and cut myself free from the territorial spirits that think they still have a hold on me operating from the countries of origin where my forefathers came from. In Jesus’ Name I renounce all familiar spirits and I command you to let me go now!
Lord I ask You to curse all demonic roots that I have inherited as You cursed the fig tree, in Jesus’ Name. I renounce all occultic callings, ranking, gifting, talents and abilities in the Almighty Name of Jesus.
Lord, I also bring before You the fruits that have resulted in my life because of the root of slavery and I ask You to set me free and to break the power of these patterns and cycles over me and my family:
• The fear of hunger.
• All eating disorders.
• Obsessions with food.
• Alcoholism and drugs.
• All forms of addiction.
• Inability to handle money.
• Stealing, gambling and wasting.
• Obsession to own land.
Lord, I know now that we are only stewards and I choose to be a faithful steward with all that You bless me with, in Jesus’ Name.
• All forms of poverty
-
In faith
-
Self-worth
-
Relationships
-
Family life
• Sexual promiscuity
-
Masturbation (all forms of self-comfort)
-
Illegitimacy
-
Rape
Lord, please forgive me and my family for allowing and indulging in these sins, in Jesus’ Name. I nail each one of these things to the Cross of Jesus and cover them with the Blood of Jesus.
Lord, I receive my forgiveness now in Jesus’ Name. I now turn to you, Satan, and all your demons that have been tormenting my family and me for generations. I bind and rebuke all you spirits in the Almighty Name of Jesus and I command you to go now in Jesus’ Name! I resist you, Satan, and the Word of God says you must flee (James 4:7).
I thank You, Father, that I am Your child and that You have adopted me as Your very own. I do not have a spirit of slavery to put me once more in bondage to fear, but I have received the spirit of adoption, the spirit producing sonship in the bliss of which I cry, Abba Father (Rom 8:15)!
I reject and renounce all the chains and yokes of slavery and declare I have been set free by the power of the Holy Spirit and by the Blood of the Lamb!
Thank You Lord for removing the marks of slavery from my body, soul and spirit and removing my name from Satan’s books of slavery.
Thank You for silencing the bells of slavery that have been calling for generations in the spirit. Thank You Lord that my value is not determined by what I do and what people think of me. My value is determined by who I am – a blood washed child of God – bought by the Blood of the Lamb – that is my value!!!!
I love You Lord and thank You for setting me free. I am a child of the Most High God. Thank You Father.
In Jesus’ Name,
AMEN
